DePuy ASR Hip Implant System
DePuy Orthopaedics, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, recalled its popular metal-on-metal hip replacement implant after studies reported an unusual high failure rate caused by cup loosening, misalignment, dislocation and fractures.
Wright Conserve Hip Implant
Strikingly similar to the design of DePuy’s metal-on-metal ASR Hip Replacement System, Wright Medical Technology has come under fire for the manufacturing of its Conserve Cup and Profemur Hip Implant Systems. High failure rates and high levels of cobalt and chromium ion toxicity are requiring premature revision surgery.
Depuy Pinnacle Hip System
The Pinnacle system uses a metal insert, creating a metal-on-metal application for total hip replacements. The FDA has received numerous complaints and adverse incident reports attributed mostly to its propensity to prematurely separate from the bone.
Transvaginal Mesh
This type of surgical mesh is implanted in women to improve pelvic organ prolapse – a condition when a women’s uterus, bladder, or rectum slips out of place. Failures of these products can lead to erosion of the mesh into surrounding tissue, mesh contraction leading to vaginal shrinkage, pelvic pain, and complications involving the urinary system, among others.

Improperly manufactured or designed automobiles can cause serious injury or death. Auto defects may include unsafe roofs, child safety seat failure, defective air bags, defective seatbelts, tire defects, defective fuel systems, SUV design errors dangerous ATVs, and faulty braking systems.

Fosamax
Bisphosphonates are a class of drugs taken primarily by post-menopausal women for the treatment of osteoporosis. The class includes: Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva, Atelvia, Aredia, Didronel, Skelid, Reclast or Zometa. However, women may suffer unusual fractures of the femur as a result of the use of these drugs.
Topamax
Topamax is an anticonvulsant used to treat certain types of seizures in individuals with epilepsy. Studies have found a significant risk of birth defects with the use of this drug during pregnancy, including craniofacial clefts.
Yaz
Yaz is a drug used as contraception to prevent pregnancy. This drug, also sold as Yasmin and Ocella, has been linked to serious and sometimes fatal, circulatory disease.
Paxil
Zoloft, Paxil and other SSRI antidepressants used to treat major depression, OCD, panic, social & generalized anxiety disorders in adults may increase the risk for birth defects when taken by mothers during pregnancy.
Zocor
This prescription statin drug is used by people who need to lower their cholesterol. Patients prescribed the 80 mg pill have an increased risk of developing rhabdomyolysis, a life-threatening form of muscle disease, which can lead to severe kidney damage, kidney failure, and death.
