Neal Pope, founding partner of Pope McGlamry, is the recipient of the State Bar of Georgia’s 2014 Tradition in Excellence Award in the plaintiff category. The award is sponsored annually by the State Bar’s general practice and trial law section to recognize outstanding lawyers and judges. It was presented at the state bar’s annual meeting in Amelia Island, Fla., on June 6. Each year, the Tradition of Excellence Award is presented to four outstanding members of the Bar: one Plaintiff lawyer, one Defense lawyer, one General Practice lawyer and one Judge. The winners are selected from Georgia lawyers who have demonstrated over 20 years of outstanding achievement as trial lawyers, general practitioners or judges and who have made significant contributions to the State Bar of Georgia, have a strong record of community service, and a personal commitment to excellence.
Pope, a seasoned trial lawyer, began his legal career in 1966. Although he originally tried mainly criminal cases, in the 1970’s his practice shifted from criminal to a civil emphasis. Mr. Pope now focuses on complex litigation, with experience in commercial litigation, insurance coverage disputes, class action litigation, products liability, and personal injury and wrongful death. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and various bar associations and trial lawyers’ associations.
