A.T. Walden was admitted to the practice of law in 1912 and was a distinguished member of the Atlanta legal community. It was A.T. Walden that won lawsuits that helped to desegregate the Atlanta public schools and the University of Georgia. A.T. Walden also litigated to help equalize pay for African American teachers in Georgia. In 1964, Mayor Ivan Allen appointed him to serve as judge of the Atlanta Municipal Court, making Walden the first African American Judge in Georgia since Reconstruction. Attorney Walden was a founder of the Gate City Bar Association.
