M.J. Blakely, Jr. is a trial lawyer specializing in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death, mass torts, product liability and other complex litigation. He attended Oxford College and Emory College of Emory University where he obtained a B.A. in 2002. M.J. earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2006.
M.J. came to Pope McGlamry in 2011 from one of the largest firms in Gwinnett County where he developed a personal injury practice representing plaintiffs across the state of Georgia. Since joining Pope McGlamry, M.J. has been a valued member of the firm’s Mass Tort Litigation Team and has been critical in resolving a variety of personal injury and wrongful death matters. M.J. currently leads the firm’s Wright Medical Profemur Neck fracture product liability litigation.
Outside of our office, M.J. is active in the State Bar and other civic organizations. M.J. is a graduate of the State Bar of Georgia’s YLD Leadership Academy and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association’s LEAD Program. He is a member of the Gate City Bar Association and the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. M.J. also volunteers with each of his alma maters. He is a member of the Oxford College Alumni Board and serves as the Secretary of the University of Georgia’s Law School Association Council.
M.J. and his wife, Jennifer, an excellent attorney in her own right, have two wonderful children. In his spare time M.J. enjoys cycling, running, camping, and just about anything else that gives him a chance to be outside.
