3M Earplug Defects

The 3M Combat Arms Earplugs were designed for and promoted to the United States Military as capable of offering dual-purpose ear protection and were sold to all branches of the military between 2002 and 2015.

Despite being marketed as offering the wearer the ability to hear commands and approaching enemy combatants while remaining protected, 3M allegedly failed to disclose a design defect which can cause the earplugs to loosen in the ear canal and fail to protect the hearing of the wearers, leading to hearing loss, tinnitus, and other health problems.

The Combat Arms Earplugs were standard issue in multiple branches of the military from 2002 through 2015 and may have caused thousands of soldiers to suffer significant hearing loss and tinnitus, and exposed millions more to the risks of hearing damage caused by the allegedly defective earplugs.
